SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): First Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum on Monday said Pakistan intelligence agencies had a visible hand in fueling ethnic divisions in the Kohistanat district of northern Sar-i-Pul province.

Dostum, who is in Kohistanat to drive insurgents from the district, told journalists most of the plots to create insecurities were orchestrated across Afghanistan borders and with clear support of Pakistan.

He said the Taliban with Pakistan’s help had been able to capture Kohistanat district but the town’s residents had agreed to cut off relations with insurgents.

“Although security forces deployed in this province stand ground against Taliban and have courage, but when I came here the Taliban hid in the mountains,” he added.

He said the Taliban wouldn’t have any chance to regain control of the district.

Dostum said the government was ready to welcome with open arms all the insurgents including Mullah Omar’s son to join the peace process and take part in their country’s security and rebuilding.
