7 injured as helicopter makes emergency landing in Logar

Pul-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Seven people including the rural development director were wounded on Thursday when a helicopter made an emergency landing in central Logar province before noon, a local official said.

The governor’s spokesman, Salim Saleh, told Pajhwok Afghan News the helicopter mad the emergency landing in Azra district at around 10am.

He said: “There were two helicopters flying to Azra. One of them made an emergency landing, wounding Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Rahmatullah Sarwari and six others.”

Saleh added the helicopter carrying Rural Development Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani and journalists hit a shop, but they escaped unhurt. The minister did not inform the governor’s house about his visit to Azra.

Crime branch chief Col. Mohammad Jan Abid confirmed the incident and said that seven people on board, including the director, were wounded. The chopper belongs to the Ministry of Defence.

About a month ago, an Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopter crashed in the Shinkai district of southern Zabul province, killing a dozen soldiers and the pilot.
