JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Local security officials on Sunday said that the Islamic State (IS) or Daesh rebels’ attacks on Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province were pushed back by Afghan security forces with killing 35 fighters of the militant group.
Earlier today, Achin district chief Haji Ghalib had said that hundreds of Daesh fighters stormed a number of security posts in the district.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News said that IS fighters used both small and heavy weapons during the fight, but Afghan forces were resisted and inflicted heavy casualties to the fighters.
