LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Five security personnel were killed and another five wounded when a suicide car bomb attack targeted a security post in the Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, an official said.
The blast took place on Friday at around 3pm in Chanjeer area of the district at a time when senior government and security officials were holding a gathering inside the post, deputy provincial governor Mohammad Jan Rassoulyar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the officials escaped unhurt in the blast. The attacker was blocked by security forces through an armoured vehicle and he detonated his explosives-laden car in the middle of the road, killing three Afghan National Army troops and two border policemen.
Another five security personnel were wounded in the blast, according to the deputy governor. Sources at the Emergency-run hospital in Lashkargah said they had been delivered five wounded people from the scene.
The Taliban have so far said nothing about the car suicide bombing.
