JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A rocket fired by Daesh or the so-called Islamic State (IS) fighters hit a mosque, killing six worshipers and injuring four others in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
The incident took place on Friday evening when the rocket hit a mosque in Pundola area, the town’s administrative head, Hajji Ghalib Mujahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Five people were killed on the spot and a sixth person succumbed to his injuries later, he said, adding four wounded people were evacuated to a nearby hospital.
The IS group has so far issued no comment regarding the rocket attack. The incident comes amid an ongoing public uprising the militant outfit in the town.
