FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Taliban have blocked water supply to thousands of acres of farmland from a key canal in Warduj district of northeastern Badakhshan province and have deactivated five small dams depriving hundreds of families of electricity.
The Taliban captured Warduj district almost two months back and are still in control.
Col. Abdul Wadud Rasikh, the police chief for Baharak district, said the Taliban had captured the irrigation canal in Dashtak village over the 10 days, blocking supplies to thousands of acres of land.
