QALAT (Pajhwok): Dissent Taliban Mansoor Dadullah has been killed during clashes in the Khak-i-Afghan district of southern Zabul province, a security official claimed on Thursday.

Zabul police chief, Ghulam Jilani Farahi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the dreaded insurgent commander was killed in the Kulrghan area of the district on Wednesday night.

He said Mullah Akhtar Mansoor’s loyalists had captured a commander of Dadullah a few days ago. The commander had provided his captors precise information about Dadullah’s whereabouts, he revealed.

Farahi added Akhtar Mansoor’s supporters, acting on the information, raided the house of Mansoor Dadullah in Khak-i-Afghan. The hostage commander, a resident of North Waziristan, was also killed later on.

Earlier in the year, Mansoor Dadullah refused to swear allegiance to the new Taliban leader and joined forces with a number of Uzbek rebels in Khak-i-Afghan.

Local officials said clashes between the supporters of Akhtar Mansoor and Dadullah continued in Arghandab, Khak-i-Afghan and Dai Chopan districts over the past five days.

Dadullah was a brother of former Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah. A month ago, Mullah Rassoul, a Taliban commander, created a splinter new group and named Dadullah as its leader.
