KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of petrol went up while the prices of sugar, flour, ghee and gold declined during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said on Thursday.

Obaidullah, a filling station worker in Qala-i-Fathullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News one liter of petrol’s rate jumped from 49 afghanis to 58 afs this week and the same amount of diesel remained unchanged at 42afs. He linked the hike in petrol price to a decrease in its imports from Kazakhstan.

Mohammad Saleem, a liquefied gas seller in Pul-i-Pacha area, sold one kilogram of the gas for 65afs,registering no change in its rate.

In food items, the price of flour, sugar, rice and ghee decreased. Food Traders Union head Fazal Rahman said the price of a 49-kilogram of Pakistani flour decreased from 1,460afs to 1,430afs, the price of a 49-kg of sugar bag went down from 2,120afs to 1,980afs, 16-liters tin of Shayesta ghee declined from 1020afs to 1,000 afs and 24-kg of rice from 1720 afs to 1650 afs.

Ahmad Javid, a wholesaler in Kabul market, sold a kilogram of Madina green tea for 185afs and the same amount of black African tea for 210afs, no changes in their prices.

But a retailer, Ahmad Haroon, in Dahan-i-Bagh locality sold 49-kg of sugar for 2,200afs, 16 liters of Shayesta ghee for 1,080afs, 50-kg of flour for 1,470afs, 24-kg of rice for 1,800afs, a kilogram of black African tea for 250afs and the same amount of Madina green tea for 220afs.

Moneychanger Ahmad Shah said the buying rate of one US dollar was 67.7afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 637afs. Last week’s exchange value of the dollar stood at 68.40afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 638afs.

Haji Wali Khan Totakhel, a jeweller in Gulbahar Center, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from2, 150 afghanis to 1,950afs.The same quantity of the Russian variety fell from 1,700afs to 1,650afs.
