HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Energy and Water Minister Ali Ahmad Osmani on Wednesday said Salma hydropower and irrigation dam in western Herat province would start producing 28 megawatts of electricity until spring next year.
Accompanied by Indian Consul General in Herat Amit Kumar Mishra, Osmani visited the dam renamed as Afghan-India friendship dam on the Hari River in Chisht-i-Sharif district.
India is spending USD 300 million on the dam project, expected to produce 42 MW of electricity and water nearly 80,000 hectares of farmland.
