7 children wounded in Faryab mortar shell explosion

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Seven children were wounded as a result of explosion caused by an unexploded mortar shell in the Qaisar district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Sunday.

Rahmatullah Qaisar, the town’s administrative chief, said the children were playing with the mortar lat on Saturday when the explosion happened.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the children belong to two families who had been shifted to the hospital of treatment.

Dr. Abdul Marof, the public health department director, said four children had been discharged after initial treatment while the others had been hospitalised.

Gulbadin, the father of an injured child, said he put the shell away from the children possession and then the explosion took place, he feared every one could have died if the blast could had happened near the children.
