300 women complete leadership course in Kabul

The leadership training was conducted under the women’s empowerment programme, one of the course participants, Hamasa Majidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

She said First Lady Rula Ghani, Cabinet members, lawmakers and civil society activists also participated in the certificates awarding ceremony held on Monday.

After attending the programme, she learned many skills which she could use in political and economic spheres, Majidi said, adding that most leadership positions were controlled by men while women consisted of half of the society.

Girls and women who received the training should utilise things they learnt and play a positive role in the society, Rula Ghani said in her address at the certificates distribution ceremony.

“If you want to get benefit from what you learnt, you have to teach other women about leadership techniques,” she told the students.

Women’s Affairs Minister Dilbar Nazari said education could play a crucial role in the development of a society and provided basis for economic and cultural improvement of a country.

Under the five-year programme “Promote”, 75,000 women aged between 18 and 30 years will be trained in leadership and decision-making across the country.
