FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Heavy snow and rainfall have blocked roads in eight districts of western Ghor highway, an official said on Tuesday.
Heavy snowfall and torrential rain started lashing Ferozkoh, the capital of the province, and some districts on Monday evening.
The Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority director, Hamidullah Dadfar, told Pajhwok Afghan News the snowfall had blocked roads.
Efforts were underway to reopen the roads linking the eight districts with the provincial capital, as well as Ghor-Kabul highway, he added.
About 40 centimeters of snow had fallen since last evening, Dadfar said, fearing a hike in prices of essential commodities if the wet spell continued.
On the other hand, Agriculture Director Farid Firdos called the snowfall good for crops. He hoped the rain would benefit the wheat crop and underground water would increase with the snowfall.
