LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): One contract employee of the transport department was killed and another injured in a Taliban attack in the southern province of Helmand, an official said on Tuesday.
Transport Department Director Abdul Ghafoor Tokhi told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban had already warned the two contractors over the telephone and finally attacked them, killing one and injuring another in Khorab area of Ashir district
The victims were evacuated to Helmand Civil Hospital by the 215th Maiwand Military Corps personnel, he said.
“Insurgents came in a car and attacked the two when they were having lunch. The assailants managed to escape,” Tokhi said, adding that the wounded employee was in a critical condition.
No group has so far asserted responsibility for the attack.
