<p>PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Six Afghans have been detained on charges of possessing fake computerised national identity cards (CNICs) in northwestern <a href="/en/pakistan" class="glossify-link">Pakistan</a>, a newspaper reported on Monday.</p>
<p>The arrests were made in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, the Express Tribune quoted a police official as saying.</p>
<p>Station House Officer (SHO) Gul Hameed Khan told the daily some local individuals had helped the detainees in getting the CNICs through fraudulent means.</p>
<p>While pledging action against their abettors, the official identified three of the Afghan citizens as Naqeebullah, Haibatullah and Abdul Baseer.</p>
<p>A day earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) launched a probe into the issuance of illegal CNICs to Afghan refugees.</p>
<p>A Peshawar-based NADRA said they had blacklisted 100,000 Afghan refugees who applied for the renewal of CNICs. The Afghans living in Board, Tehkal, Khyber Bazaar and Karkhano Market areas are said to have received several cards.</p>
