LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 12 militants have been killed and seven others wounded during a clash in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province, an senior official claimed on Tuesday.
Governor Mirza Khan Rahimi told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents suffered the casualties on Monday night when they stormed security checkpoints in the province.
Afghan forces also seized three Kalashnikovs and a walkie-talkie from the rebels, he said. “The security personnel have stepped up operations and several areas have been cleared,” he added.
