9 Daesh rebels killed in Nangarhar drone strikes

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least nine Daesh militants have been killed during a drone strikes in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday.

Governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone targeted the Islamic State (IS) militants in Mamando area of Achin district on Sunday night.

Nine IS members were killed after the drone attacked twice, with civilians escaping unhurt, he added.

Khogyani said several areas had been cleared of militants as a result of an ongoing operation by Afghan forces in Achin district.

There has been no word from the Islamic State outfit about their latest casualties.
