JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 15 Islamic State (IS), or Daesh, fighters have been killed in a fresh drone strike in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
District police chief, Haji Ghalib Mujahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack targeted Daesh militants in Mamando area last night.He said 15 rebels were killed in the attack that caused no civilian casualties.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the drone strike and said a number of notorious Daesh fighters were among the dead.
The attack on came after a clearing operation in the district recently ended.Local officials said a large number of fighters have been eliminated in the offensive near the Afghan border.
