On Sunday, a large crowd of people participated in the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony, marking Nowruz-- the Persian New Year -- at the Hazrat Ali Shrine in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province.
As many as 6,000 people, including women and children, on Monday arrived in Gulghundai Valley and enjoyed the second day of the new year.
Music, dance and other programmes were also arranged in the valley to double the celebrations. Clad in traditional dresses, the visitors prepared a verity of food items.
Naseer Ahmad, 40, a resident of Qala-i-Najaran, arrived in the beautiful valley with his family and set up a tent where they brought traditional food and seven types of fruits with them.
The six-member family arrived in a car playing traditional music and spring related songs.
“We came to Gulghundi Valley because here is security. Parwan has a good weather and we are here to see different flowers and enjoy,” said Ahmad.
He praised security forces for ensuring peace and enabling the entire nation to celebrate the advent of spring and the New Year.
Syed Masud, 20, a resident of Macroryan area of Kabul, said: “It is the first time I am visiting this natural beauty. It is full of joy to celebrate Nowruz here.”
People would keep coming for the next 10 days to to Gulghondi because the area is blessed with natural beauty and plants are blooming with flowers.
