KABUL (Pajhwok): Twenty military personnel have been sent to the United States for training in the aviation sector in an effort to strengthen the Afghan Air Force (AAF), says Resolute Support mission.
A statement on the NATO would be attend the Ordnance Basic Officer Leadership Course.
Three will be trained as A-29 aviators for the Afghan Air Force, eight as A-29 mechanics and nine as C-130 mechanics.After English classes, the students will go to their respective schools for training.
The mechanicswill learn general safety concepts dealing with aircraft, maintenance and the flight line, besides receiving training in technical orders, aircraft safe for maintenance and inspection systems.
According to the statement, this is the third group of A-29 mechanics and second group of C-130 mechanics to attend training in the United States.
The United States handed over the first batch of A-29 light attack aircraft to the AAF in mid-January this year.The A-29 is a multi-role, fixed-wing aircraft.
Last year, eight AAF pilots graduated from a programme hosted by the 81st Fighter Squadron at Moody Air Force Base and will return to Afghanistan.
