KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The district chief for Aliabad district of northeastern Kunduz province was wounded along with one of his bodyguards in a Taliban ambush on Sunday, an official said.
Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh, told Pajhwok Afghan News the district chief, HayatullahFaqiryar, came under attack in the Angor Bagh area of Kunduz City, the provincial capital.
Faqiryar and one of his bodyguards were wounded when a Taliban-fired rocket struck his vehicle, the police chief said, calling the health condition of the injured stable.
A relative of the district chief, who wished not to be named, said Faqiryar was wounded in his foot and shifted to the Afghan National Army (ANA) hospital for treatment. The area is three kilometres from Kunduz City.
