KABUL (Pajhwok): First deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eng. Mohammad Khan on Saturday said national interests shouldn’t be compromised over political gains as he referred to mega projects of national importance.
Speaking at a gathering at his office, Khan supported all national projects across the country and said the government had responsibilities towards people and would only implement projects which served national interests.
He said the government wouldn’t let anyone interrupt or create hurdles to national projects.
“We only implement those projects which have long-term profit, take less time and cost little.”
He described the stance on TUTAP project of some government officials, tribal elders and tendentious circles as unfair, one-sided and as outsiders’ act against national issues.
He expressed the hope the authorities would raise voice and take a tough stance against elements damaging the country’s national interests.
Presidential advisor Gulzad, Wolesi Jirga members Hamidzai Lalai, Fariba Kakar, Khodai Dad Erfani and Sultan Shah Etimadi and others spoke on the occasion and supported Khan’s views.
The TUTAP power project will transfer electricity from central Asian countries to Pakistan.
The line will pass through Pul-i-Khumri, Salang and then reach Kabul, however Bamyan residents say the project route should go through their province.
Dozens of lawmakers on Saturday staged a walkout from the Wolesi Jirga to press the government to implement the project through Bamyan.
