NATO’sWarsaw Summit will be held in early Julyand on the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan on October 4-5. The event will be co-hosted and co-chaired by the European Union in Belgian capital.
A statement from the alliance said the two sides agreed the conference should focus on mobilising international and Afghan efforts to increase the effectiveness of sustained global support and funding.
They also laid emphasis on ensuring further progress in implementing reforms in the country, including on jobs and growth, rule of law, improved public finance management and anti-corruption.
Such reforms would help ensure the provision of basic services and public goods, they concurred. The two leaders also agreed on mustering up regional support for a political process towards peace and cross-border economic cooperation.
Rabbani and Mogheriniexchanged views on the progress made in the preparatory talks for the peace process and its regional implications, as well as the support of the European Union in this critical phase. Migration issues also figured at the meeting.
