Senior police official kidnapped by militants in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Militants kidnapped the deputy administrative officer at the police headquarters in northern Kunduz province on Saturday, an official said.

Lt. Gen. Sher Aziz Kamawal, head of the 808^th Spinzar Zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News Waheedullah came under ambush on his way from Takhar to Kunduz in Khwaja Pesta locality.

He said the rebels shot at the police officer’s vehicle, resulting in the death of a bodyguard and Waheedullah’s abduction.

According to a statement from police; the kidnappers are linked to Mullah commander Qari Salim, who was arrested a month back during a special offensive in Khanabad district.
