PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): America’s top commander in Afghanistan Army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif on Wednesday discussed the Afghan-led reconciliation process.
The Resolute Support Mission commander, during a routine visit to Islamabad, held talks with the army chief on the management of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and prospects for peace in the war-devastated country.
It was Nicholson’s visit to Pakistan since President Barack Obama announced earlier this month keeping 8,400 US troops through the end of the current year in Afghanistan.
A brief statement from the army’s military wing said Gen. Nicholson “lauded the role of the Pakistani forces in breaking the nexus between terrorists and efforts for bringing peace to the region”.
