1 civilian killed, 5 wounded in Herat explosion

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): One civilian was killed and five others were wounded in an explosion in western Herat province on Saturday, officials said.

Police spokesman, Col. Abdur Raoof Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took in the Tank Mulaie area of 12^th police district at around 9am. Three civilians were injured when the explosives in handcart went off.

But an official of the Herat Civil Hospital, Dr. Abdur Rahman Jami, confirmed receiving one body and five injured people, all civilians. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.

A resident who wished not to be named said that a policeman was among the wounded. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing.
