PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Two suicide bombers were shot dead by security officials before they could detonate their explosives-filled jackets in the capital of central Logar province on Sunday, an official said.
Salem Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place at around 3:30pm in the municipality square.
He said intelligence officials recognized the two bombers and police shot them dead before they were able to detonate their suicide jackets.
According to Saleh, the bombers wanted to strike at government facilities and their killing prevented a huge devastation.
Aziz, a shopkeeper in the area, said they heard gun shots and it appeared later that police had gunned down two would be-suicide bombers.
