MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Religious scholars in northern Balkh province on Sunday declared as illegal the practice of giving girls into marriages to settle disputes.
The scholars asked people to be part of a campaign aimed at eliminating the harmful traditional practice, called “Bad.”
Besides the clerics, lawmakers from Balkh and dozens of civil society activists, who gathered at the provincial council office at the invitation of Literary Movement of Balkh, expressed their support for Khan Wali Adil’s campaign against Bad.
