Security officials among 30 dead in Ghazni clashes, airstrikes

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Three Policemen and 27 Taliban have been killed and as many others wounded during clashes and airstrikes in different parts of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.

Ghazni Police Chief, Brig. Gen Aminullah Amarkhil, told reporters Afghan security forces conducted airstrike and ground offensives in Qarabagh, Gailan, Ab Band and Nawa districts on Friday night.

Foreign militants were among the dead during clashes, he said, adding four policemen were wounded during gun battle.

Hameedullah, the resident of Andar district, confirmed the clashes between security forces and Taliban insurgents.

He said security forces and fighters of local uprising groups driven the insurgents from the areas which were earlier in the Taliban control.

Taliban Spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, confirmed the clashes and claimed security forces suffered casualties and only two Taliban fighters had been killed in Nawa district.
