JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A woman named Sheba has been found burnt inside her home in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place Friday night in the Ekmalati locality of Behsod district.
Khogyani said it was not clear yet how the woman was killed and by whom. Police, however, have detained Sheba’s husband and father-in-law in connection with the arson attack.
Mohammad Rafiq, a local residence, said he heard about the incident early in the morning, but the motive behind the murder was not known so far.
Some months back, a girl had been set alight by her sister-in-law in Jalalabad. The alleged attacker was later sentenced to death by the primary court last month.
