KABUL (AUAF) as an assault on development and progress.

A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Ghani as saying: “Terrorist groups want to prevent the development of the country by attacking civilians, educational institutes, residential areas, bridges, power pylons and demonstrations.”

He added the terrorists would not be able to dent the morale of Afghans, who had always stood firm and resolute in times of hardship and succeeded in resolving their problems.

“Attacks on educational facilities, welfare centres and civilians would never affect our resolve; instead they would help us stand even firmer against terrorism,” Ghani remarked.

The president hailed security forces for their effective response to the attack and preventing more casualties. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Meanwhile, Abdullah said the Afghan people and their foreign allies were cooperating with the government in building educational institutions but militants and terrorists were destroying them.

He strongly condemned the attack and shared his deep sympathies with the affected families. Abdullah praised the Afghan forces for their timely response to the assault and killing of the terrorists.
