<p>SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The wife of a police officer has committed suicide and her spouse has been arrested in connection with the incident in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Saturday.</p>
<p>Provincial crime investigation chief Col. Abdul Rauf Raufi told Pajhwok Afghan News the 22-years-old shot herself this morning using her husband’s gun, but the reason behind the extreme step was not immediately known.</p>
<p>The police officer, husband of the slain woman, has been arrested and referred to the attorneys.</p>
<p>Maghfirat Samimi, <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a> Independent Human Rights Commission head for Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul and Faryab provinces, said the incident might be a result of domestic violence.</p>
<p>She said six <a href="/en/women" class="glossify-link">women</a> were killed and another 10 hanged themselves to death in the three provinces last year.</p>
