KABUL (Pajhwok): Eidul Adha prayers were offered at mosques and Eid Gahs across the country on Monday, marking the three-day religious festival.
President Ashraf Ghani along with deputy chief executives, a number of jihadi figures, Cabinet and parliament members and high officials offered the Eid prayers at the Presidential Palace Mosque.
In their sermons, prayer leaders highlighted the significance of the day and prayed for lasting peace and stability in the country.
Amid tight security measures, the residents of Kabul, the central capital, offered Namaz-i-Eidul Adha at Eidgah Mosque, Pul-i-Khisti, Haji Abdul Rahman, Wazir Akbar Khan and other mosques.
In western Herat province, big congregation took place at the main mosque, in southern Kandahar province at Eidgah, in Mazar-i-Sharif at the blue mosque and in eastern Nangarhar province at the Eidgah.
A day earlier, the Ministry of Interior said extraordinary security measures had been put in place for Eid and so far no untoward incident has taken place.
