MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): The police chief for central Kapisa province escaped unhurt in a bomb attack on Saturday, an official said.

Police spokesman Naqibullah Amini told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Shokhi area close to Mahmod Raqi, the provincial capital, at around 10am.

He said the police chief, Gen. Ahmad Fahim Qaim, was going to attend a funeral ceremony when a bomb attached to a motorcycle went off.

Qaim escaped unhurt in the remotely-controlled blast, which caused no casualties. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

No militant group has so far commented on the attack, which came a day after four policemen were killed and seven others wounded in an explosion.
