Egypt provides humanitarian aid to needy Afghans

KABUL.

The Egypt Embassy in Kabul in a statement said the Egyptian Red Crescent Society along with different government agencies coordinated their efforts and contributed to the cargo carrying humanitarian aid and medical supplies.

The Egyptian assistance includes blankets, medicines, medical supplies, as well as food items to be delivered to most needy families in poor areas across Afghanistan before the beginning of the cold winter season.

The Egyptian Embassy in Kabul handed the assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) in to take the charge of distributing it to different hospitals and to the less fortunate people in different provinces around the country.

The Egyptian Embassy and the ARCS organized an event on Saturday to announce the delivery of Egypt’s humanitarian assistance. The event was attended by high-ranking Afghan government official as well as representatives of civil society organizations and media agencies.

Mohab Nasr, Egypt’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, said the assistance proved Egypt’s commitment to help the Afghan people and alleviate their suffering after decades of war and conflict.

Nasr stressed on deep ties and historic relations between the peoples of the two countries.

Egypt has been assisting Afghanistan in various fields including training of Afghan police and defense officers as well as providing scholarships and humanitarian assistance.
