LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Monday said more than 100 people had been freed from Taliban-run prisons in three districts of southern Helmand province, a claim the rebels rejected.
The MoD in a statement said Special Security Forces raided Taliban-run jails in Marja, Nawzad and Nehr-i-Siraj district last night, freeing 101 prisoners.
However, the statement did not say if the prisoners were civilians, security forces or both.
