A statement from Sharif’s office said Gen Pavel appreciated Pakistan’s role in eradicating terrorism in recent years. “The reconstruction and rebuilding process would be worth following.”
Pakistan could play an important role in the region, he believed: “We expect a broader political framework agreement between Pakistan and Nato to unlock further mutual military cooperation.”

At a separate meeting with Pavel, National Security Advisor (NSA) Lt. General ® Nasser Khan Janjua commended NATO’s efforts towards peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Janjua briefed his interlocutor on National Action Plan and Operation Zarb-i-Azb aimed at the elimination of terrorism from Pakistan. He called for shifting focus from winning the war to winning peace in the region.
