KABUL (Pajhwok): Concerned over the increasing poppy cultivation in the country, the Ministry of Counternarcotics on Tuesday urged religious scholars to aware people about the hazards of narcotics and their prohibition in Islam.
A recent survey by UNODC shows poppy cultivation has increased by 10 percent and drugs production by 43 percent in Afghanistan this year while anti-drug campaigns reduced by 91 percent.
