JALALABD (Pajhwok): At least 11 Islamic State (Daesh) rebels and three Taliban have been killed in US drone strikes in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Lt. Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone strikes took place in the Mamandara locality of Achin district late on Wednesday night.

Eleven Daesh militants were killed and a machinegun destroyed in the strikes that did not harm civilians, he said, without giving further details of the raids.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said three Taliban militants were killed and some weapons sized during a clash by security forces in Achin district early Thursday morning

Militants have not yet commented on the drone strikes.
