Nangarhar customs revenue surges to 350m afghanis

<p>JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Custom revenue of eastern Nangarhar province has increased to 350 million afghanis in 2016, compare to the last year, an official said on Thursday.</p>

<p>Although less cargo trucks entered the province this year, the revenue of the provincial customsdepartment rose, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.</p>

<p>Information regarding the revenue boost was shared by Customs Director Elhamuddin Mazhar with the governor during a meeting late on Wednesday, according to the gubernatorial spokesman.</p>

<p>Mazhar said 122 commissionagents were working for the department, facilitating accelerate traders and cargo trucks deals. Governor, Gulab Mangal hailed the performance of custom officials.</p>

<p>According to another report, the construction of a modern archive at the Nangarhar Customs Department was inaugurated today.Khogyani said the archive was constructed with financial support from traders,</p>

<p>The archive will preserve documents of 1,600 businessmen.He said Mangal commended traders’ contribution to building the facility.</p>

<p>Provincial traders have repeatedly complained against customs authorities extorting money from truckers and businessmen.</p>
