PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Peace talks between the Afghan government and Taliban’s ambassador to the United Nations said on Thursday.
Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, participating UN General Assembly debate, claimed: “Pakistan has played an important role in maintaining peace in Afghanistan, which has been acknowledged by the international community.”
More than 30 years of war in Afghanistan had produced grave consequences for Pakistan’s security, stability and economic development, she was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan.
Lodhi said the success of the reconciliation process depended on a responsible role by the Afghan people. Not only that, she assured that Pakistan wanted voluntary return of Afghan refugees to their homeland.
