4 dead as gas cylinder explodes in Jawzjan bakery

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Four people were killed and two others wounded on Wednesday when a gas cylinder exploded inside a bakery shop in northern Jawzjan province, an official said.

Police spokesman Hikmatullah Aminzada told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened in Aqcha City. “Six workers at the bakery wanted to heat up themselves with fire of the gas cylinder which suddenly exploded,” he said.

According to Aminzada, the bakery was burnt in the explosion and a nearby flour shop was also destroyed.

The fire was controlled before spreading to other shops and the injured were evacuated to nearby hospital in the district.

Dr. Najibullah Farhang, head of the Aqcha Hospital, said four people were killed in the incident and their bodies could not be identified. He added the two injured were being treated and their condition was out danger.
