Prospective participants of the upcoming Heart of Asia Conference have proposed that China should be part of the regional infrastructure CBM subgroup, according to the Indian Express.
By the same token, the newspaper reported Iran had been proposed as a co-lead country for the trade, commerce and investment opportunities CBMs subgroup.
Afghanistan had called for a well-defined regional counter-terrorism Strategy to combat security challenges in the region, an Afghan diplomat was quoted as saying. The draft strategy has been shared with India, co-chair for the Heart of Asia process.
One official told the paper the draft might be adopted at the Amritsar conference. Once adopted, the strategy will require member countries not to shelter terrorists and terror infrastructure.
