KABUL (Pajhwok): Three former Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials have been banned from travelling abroad and referred to the attorneys in compliance with a presidential order, an official said on Saturday.
The government official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the officials banned from travelling abroad included three former deputy interior ministers — Mujtaba Patang, Jamil Junbish and Jamal Nasir Siddique.
The three had been on service when the Ministry of Interior collected 50,000 weapons, ammunition, walkies-talkies and other military equipment from security companies which had been dissolved, the official said.
The source said all the weapons and ammunition had gone missing and the three officials who served in the ministry between 2012 and 2015 were banned from travelling abroad as part of the Attorney General Office investigation.
All other officials of MoI public protection department’s procurement section have been suspended and referred to the Attorney General Office.
The presidential order’s clause first states all officials who have been serving in the procurement department over the past 10 years are being removed and replaced with committed, expert and honest individuals through competitive exam.
