KABUL (Pajhwok): A fire broke out on Wednesday in a carpet market in capital Kabul, inflicting heavy financial losses to shop owners, but no causalities were reported.
Haji Taj Mohammad, one of the affected shop owners, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire erupted at around 1:00pm in the carpet market situated in the limits of fourth police district.
He did not know a clear cause of the fire but said he was praying when he received the news. He said the blaze gutted all items in his shop worth two million afghanis.
But some eyewitnesses said they managed to control the fire from spreading to other shops with available resources before the fire brigade arrived at the scene.
They expressed happiness over timely arrival of firefighters who saved many more shops from catching the fire.
