Ghani’s remarks came at a meeting that he chaired on the 10-year development strategy for the capital on Thursday evening, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
Urban Development Minister Syed Saadat Mansoor Naderi told participants different state institutions needed to forge coordination for effective implementation of the development plan.
He said the urban development sector had witnessed considerable capacity improvement in recent years. But coordination was needed to avoid an overlap of roles.

Speaking on the occasion, the president noted substantial progress in the urban sector over the past two years. To sustain the momentum, ongoing urban projects be completed on priority, he said.
He linked intensifying insecurity in the capital from surrounding districts. The president stressed even development of districts to control insecurity and population growth in Kabul.
“In the area of infrastructure development, we should have plans that don’t need to be changed in future; instead they should be sustained and development,” the president added.
