MAIMANA/FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A former National Directorate of Security (NDS) employee was among three others gunned down separately in north-eastern Badakhshan and northern Faryab provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Abdullah Masomi, the administrative head for Sabz-Push district of Faryab, told Pajhwok Afghan News Abdul Rashid Arab, a retired NDS worker, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Gorzad locality of the district late on Friday night.
He said the ex-intelligence official was 70-year-old and had retired from the spy service more than 10 years ago.
Meanwhile, an off-duty border policeman was pulled from a car and gunned down by gunmen on Friday night. The border guard was going home from Maimana, the provincial capital, to Kohistanat district.
Kohistanat district police chief confirmed the incident and identified the slain border policeman as Mohammad Rahim
Col. Sakhi Dad Hidari, Badakhshan crime branch chief, said gunmen shot dead a former driver and an employee the Ministry of Defense in Tirgran locality of the Wardoj district on Friday night. He named the victim as Farid.
