KABUL commander Gulbadin Hekmatyar.
Eng. Amin Karim, the Gulbadin Hekmatyar-led HIA’s top peace negotiator, expressed the hope at a gathering organized by the Milli Musharikat Party in the honour of Hekmatyar and to show preparedness for his reception.
Karim said Hekmatyar will reappear in Kabul in a few weeks. He said the HIA always believed in free, transparent and fair election and considered vote the only way to get power.
The Afghan government and the HIA after years of negotiations signed a peace agreement last year and the UN lifted sanctions on the HIA and Hekmatyar last week allowing him and his party to travel and use their assets.
Karim said elections were the only legal way to get power and it was the HIA which stood against dictatorship and one man’s rule.
He said the HIA was 100 percent committed to the peace agreement and its armed wings would lay weapons on the ground.
