AIBAK (Pajhwok): Police arrested three Taliban militants along with their weapons on Wednesday in northern Samangan province, an official said.
Police spokesman Munir Rahimi told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees included a notorious Taliban commander, Mullah Yarqul.
Rahimi said Yarqul was captured with his Kalashnikov in Taikhonk locality of Aibak, the provincial capital, early today.
A local resident, Yarqul was involved in attacks on the home of an uprising commander.
Separately, another two militants were arrested in Dara-i-Sufyan district on Tuesday. Rahimi identified the two as Mullah Faizullah, a resident of Dara-i-Sufyan district and Qari Maiwand, a resident of Charboluk district of Balkh province.
