KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a tribal elder in the Spinboldak district of southern Kandahar province on Monday, an official said.
Hailing from central Uruzgan province, Haji Zainullah, was shot dead in the Nawai Kalai village early this morning, said Samim Khapalwak, the governor’s spokesman.
The assailants managed to take to their heels, but security forces had launched search for their arrest, he added.
A security official who wished to go unnamed said the slain tribal elder was Haji Zainullah and belonged to Uruzgan province.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack as yet.
