Highway cop shoots dead truck driver in Farah

<p>FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A police officer shot and killed a truck driver allegedly on refusing to pay bribe money on the Farah-Helmand highway in western Farah province, an official said on Saturday.</p>

<p>The incident took place in Tot Wa Chakab area of Bala Buluk district on Friday afternoon, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.</p>

<p>Mohammad Naser Mahri said the highway police signaled a truck en route to <a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">Kabul</a> from neighboring Herat province to stop and asked its driver, Naqibullah, to pay money, but the driver refused.</p>

<p>As a verbal clash erupted between the driver and the police, one policeman opened fire at the driver and killed him.</p>

<p>Mahri said the policeman had been detained and was currently under investigation with the provincial crime branch.</p>
